Stow Fitness Center Chiro practor
We all know that good health is the key to living a full and robust life. Here at Stow Fitness Center, Dr. Nicole Langlois enjoys bringing good health to her patients through the benefits of chiropractic. Chiropractic is a unique science in that it focuses on the basic causes of health problems. It is also conservative approach because it is drugless and non-surgical. Now, if you’re looking for a one-stop, one-step cure-all for all of your health problems, chiropractic is not the answer. And although results, at times, can be dramatic, they usually aren’t instantaneous and it may require some work on your part in the form of gentle exercises. Here is an overview of a typical chiropractic adjustment along with a description of the technique that Dr. Nicole Langlois uses to compliment the adjustment – Neuromuscular Reeducation.

Chiropractic Adjustment

Adjustments are often needed to treat the following conditions:

  • headache
  • neck pain
  • whiplash
  • mid back & low back pain
  • sciatica

In simple terms, a chiropractic adjustment is a specific force applied by the doctor with her hands to reposition and “free-up” a joint that is misaligned and/or “stuck”.

Neuromuscular Reeducation (NMR)

The following conditions respond especially well to NMR:

  • carpal tunnel syndrome
  • tendonitis
  • shoulder problems (rotator cuff)
  • whiplash

NMR is a myofascial release technique which is used to treat problems with soft tissues such as muscle, ligament, tendon, fascia and nerve.

Soft tissues sometimes develop adhesions (scar tissue) that interfere with their normal function. There are a variety of ways in which this can occur – anything from an acute injury (a car accident or sudden fall ) to years of poor posture. NMR is used to “break-up” these adhesions allowing soft tissues to function properly – returning you to good health.
